The crowd fell silent. Incessant cheers ceased in an instant. All laughter and applause hushed in a moment. No one spoke. No one moved. Shock enveloped the stadium while the scoreboard of the championship game glowed large and ominous above with a grim foreboding.
The coach was already on the court, standing protectively over the injured player lying on the hard, glossy floor. The young player shook his head in disagreement with the doctor and coach’s assessment, and attempted to stand but winced in pain and fell back into a heap. The youth kept apologizing over and over that he’d gotten injured with two minutes left in the game. It was then that the coach reassuringly placed his hand upon the youth’s shoulder, and intently held his gaze. Though no one could hear the words, it was as if the coach were telling the young man it was okay to leave the game. In fact, it was time.
The crowd remained motionless as the last of the five star players was lifted from the floor and escorted from the basketball court. Two others had fouled out. Another had been injured. One was out with a technical foul. Not only this, but several other players besides them who could have replaced some of them were out with the flu. The game was tied. Two minutes remained. A strange hush had fallen, and even the fans of the opposing team remained silent, wondering what would happen next.
The coach, strong and tall, turned silently unfazed toward the bench, his eyes surveying the five players still seated there. Though many thought of them as the “B” team or junior varsity players, a short group of scrappy misfits, he smiled as he approached them. Stopping directly in front of them he said four words.
“It’s your turn now.”
Each of the five players froze, then slowly turned to look at one another, blinking in disbelief. Had they heard him correctly? This was no ordinary game. This was the championship. Who were they to enter this game? What could they do? The other team compared to them was tall, well-built and had played in game after game after game thus preparing them for this moment. But, the reserves were stocky and some spindly, and though they had never missed a practice, had no real game experience. In shock that they were being called upon in this strategic, massively important moment in time, they remained motionless.
But the coach did not allow for such timidity to restrain them longer than a second, but called to them to join him in the huddle beside the bench.
“Get up!” The coach said firmly.
Without further hesitation all rose quickly and gathered around him, but as they did so, the fans of the other team realizing that only the reserves were left, sprang to life and began to jeer. Even the other team’s cheerleaders started a chant about how much better their team was compared to the reserves on the other side.
But the reserves were deaf to the jeers and chants, and all the cheering of the fans energized them and stirred their souls to action not withdrawal. All they could hear was their coach’s steady, confident voice, and they listened intently to his words. They knew how high the stakes were. They knew the entire game rested on their shoulders now. They knew this was it, and that all those practices would mean something now. Their coach needed them, and they would answer that call.
“Go Team!” was shouted by them at the top of their lungs, and they spilled onto the floor, ready for action. They would play for all they were worth. They would not let their coach or team down. Indeed, it was their time – the time of the reserves! And in one accord as if fueled by the very hope that arose in the souls of those five misfits, the crowd began to roar.
This is where we are right now in history, in the last of the last days. It appears that many spiritual leaders have died or are dying or ill, leaders that really knew how to lead, how to expose evil and how to do battle with the enemy, men and women like Dave Hunt, Carole Matriciana, and Chuck Missler died in the last few years; Russ and Shelly Dizdar, Marcus Lamb, Bill Randles, Doug Riggs, and Carman (and I’m sure you could name others) all recently passed in the course of a year’s time (from February 2021-February 2022).
Like in the days of Gideon and David, there appeared to be no one to carry the team on to victory. But, God who looks on the heart and not the outward appearance, saw Gideon who was the least in his family and was apart of the weakest tribe in Israel who was threshing wheat in a wine press, and sent His angel to call him from the bench into the game. God also saw David, the youngest of his family, who though inexperienced in war, had done battle with the bear and the lion and whose faith in God was greater than his fear, and called him from the bench to face Goliath on the battlefield – such as no other battle hardened man in Israel would do at the time. These were scrappy misfits, unlikely choices to carry team Israel to victory – But God! God was with them. God chose them. God anointed them. God empowered them. God emboldened them. God was not put off by their family lineage nor their outward appearance, because he saw their hearts that were soft toward Him. He saw their faith.
Even so, today, though many have been lost to us here recently, such as many pastors and spiritual leaders, even our mothers and fathers or spouse, God is calling us to “Get Up” off of the bench and get in the game. The others have done their part. They played their game. They ran their race. They crossed their finish line. But, we are still here. We are the reserves. Indeed, we have been reserved for such a time as this.
So, quit questioning God, and get up off the bench. It’s time to quit giving in to the enemy’s tactics whatever they may be (depression, anxiety, despair, anger, negativity, fear, excuses, running from responsibility, listening to lies, etc). You are being called into the game NOW. You are needed in the battle NOW. What is happening in the world will not simply pass. The deception in the Church will not simply go away. Great evil is on the rise, and the darkness is growing. Every second counts.
Come on, my fellow misfits!!! Get up, reserves!!! Jesus is coming soon! Let’s be ready!
We are swiftly approaching the end of October, and with that end comes Halloween. It is said to be the most popular holiday besides Christmas. It seems that everyone is Halloween crazy, even those at the care center where I used to work as chaplain. Each nurses’ station would decorate with a particular theme, and all the nurses, nurses assistants, social workers, administrator, CEO, etc would dress up according to the theme of their wing. The chaplain previous to me even participated by dressing up, and I was pursued to celebrate it as well because they wanted EVERYONE to take part in the festivities. I was even approached by another influential Christian to see if there was a way to get me to join in the fun – like if it were a Biblical costume theme.
This leads me to the question and point of this article. May a Christian participate in the colorful and festive holiday of Halloween? In order to answer this question we must examine the holiday’s brief history and more importantly, we must open our hearts to what God says in His timeless and always applicable word (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
The History of Halloween
To begin with, Halloween has never even slightly been Christian. It can be been traced back to the time of the Druids, even as far back as Julius Caesar. It was a night of fear, human sacrifice and other rituals, and was all about death and the worship of the Lord of Death, whom some have called Samhain. It was believed that this was the night when the spirits of the dead roamed about freely, and in order to remain protected, people would disguise themselves in costumes. “They lit candles or lanterns to keep the spirits away, and if they had to go outside, they wore costumes and masks to frighten the spirits or to keep from being recognized by these unearthly beings.” (The Holiday Handbook, by Carol Barkin and Elizabeth James, pg 41). According to John Ankerberg and John Weldon in their booklet “The Facts on Halloween,” pg 6, “Druid worshipers of his attempted to placate and appease the Lord of Death because of his power over the souls of the dead . . . For those who had died during the proceeding 12 months, Samhain allowed their spirits to return to earth to their former places of habitation for a few hours to associate once again with their families.” If one did not provide food (“treats”) for these spirits, then one could expect some horrible repercussions (“tricks”). Thus, people fearing the evil that the spirits might do, always provided some delectable feast for the spirits who they believed would be passing by. Furthermore, this time of year was considered the start of a new year, and so many sought to have their fortunes told and/or divined. Bobbing for apples became a way to divine whom one would marry, while the entrails of animals or humans could predict the future in other ways.
Of course the Halloween that many have grown up with or see their grandchildren celebrating is not the bloody, divining, fear-filled, death-obsessed holiday that the Druids celebrated, for it has been marketed as a harmless fun-filled night replete with games, candy and sparkly costumes galore. And Christians, desiring to do something good that also appeases their candy-hungry children, have contributed to this holiday through church sponsored holiday festivals, trunk-or-treating events, and other palatable options that they explain are community outreaches for the sake of the gospel. In so doing, some Christians even go so far as to believe that they have redeemed the holiday of Halloween.
Who We Are In Christ
But, is this what we are to do as Christians?
Ephesians 5 states, “8For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9(for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.12For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. 13But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light…15See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16redeeming the time, because the days are evil.17Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”
You see, Jesus’ shed blood and resurrection power even now at work in us made us new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17), the old has passed away and all has become new. And as new creations we were called from darkness into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9). And thus as children of light, who are dressed in armor of light (Romans 13:12), called the light of the world by Jesus Himself (Matthew 5:14-16), we are to be imitators of God by exposing the darkness (Ephesians 5).
A Covenant People: Under the Blood
In Matthew 26:28 Jesus states that His blood is the blood of a New Covenant, for without blood there is no remission of sin (Hebrews 9:22). This New Covenant was predicted in Jeremiah 31:31-34 and explained in Hebrews 8. Thus, believers in Christ are under a blood covenant, and have been cleansed from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
A Consecrated People; A ConsecratedPriesthood: Holy to the Lord
But, there is more to Christianity than just us being cleansed by His blood. We have been cleansed for service. We have been anointed for service. We have been set apart for service. We have come”4…to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, 5you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ…9But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” (1 Peter 2:4-5, 9-10)
In Leviticus 8, Aaron and his sons were dedicated to the priesthood by bathing in water, being anointed with oil, and sprinkled with blood. They wore a tunic, a sash, a robe, an intricately woven band that secured the ephod, and a breastplate with the Urim and Thummim, a turbin and a holy crown engraved with the words, “Holy to the Lord.”
Even so, Christians have been baptized in water (Matthew 28:19), anointed with the oil of the Holy Spirit (1 John 2:20, 27), cleansed by the blood of the lamb (Hebrews 9:22), clad in the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18), and called to be holy as God is holy (1 Peter 1:15-16).
Indeed, Christians are a royal and holy priesthood of light, set apart by God under the New Covenant in Christ’s blood for the service of offering up spiritual sacrifices to God. We are holy and set apart and not to “14…be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? 16And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God.” (2 Corinthians 6:14-16)
Christians are the Temple and we are the priests under the New Covenant in Christ’s holy blood, set apart to offer spiritual sacrifices as children of light.
In Jeremiah 7 we read a deeply troubling account wherein the covenant people of Judah, God’s holy and dearly loved people, had forgotten who they were and who there God was.
What was happening?
“17Do you not see what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? 18The children gather wood, the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead dough, to make cakes for the queen of heaven; and they pour out drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke Me to anger. 19Do they provoke Me to anger?” says the Lord. “Do they not provoke themselves, to the shame of their own faces?”20Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Behold, My anger and My fury will be poured out on this place—on man and on beast, on the trees of the field and on the fruit of the ground. And it will burn and not be quenched”…this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.’ 24Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but followed the counsels and the dictates of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward.” (Jeremiah 7:17-20)
And Jeremiah 23 goes on to say that, “11“…both prophet and priest are profane; Yes, in My house I have found their wickedness,” says the Lord.”
What’s the big deal? What’s wrong with families gathering wood and kindling fires and baking yummy cakes? It sounds so innocent. But it was not merely about doing family things together or warm and fuzzy things. Rather, it was all about the worship of the Queen of Heaven.
The big deal is this, God told them not to do so. That might sound too simple to some, even unfair to others. Like, come on, who doesn’t like cake?! But, the people had agreed with God’s covenant when they signed on and His blood of the covenant was sprinkled upon them (Exodus 24:8). In other words, not only was the priesthood sprinkled with blood (Leviticus 8), but all the people were sprinkled first of all with the blood of the covenant. Therefore, they agreed to walk in God’s ways and not their own nor the ways of the pagans around them.
“3According to the doings of the land of Egypt, where you dwelt, you shall not do; and according to the doings of the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you, you shall not do; nor shall you walk in their ordinances. 4You shall observe My judgments and keep My ordinances, to walk in them: I am the Lord your God…24‘Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you.25For the land is defiled; therefore I visit the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants.26You shall therefore [d]keep My statutes and My judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations, either any of your own nation or any stranger who dwells among you 27(for all these abominations the men of the land have done, who were before you, and thus the land is defiled), 28 lest the land vomit you out also when you defile it, as it vomited out the nations that were before you.” (Leviticus 18:3-4, emphasis mine)
“9“When you come into the land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations. 10There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, 11or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. 12For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you. 13You shall be blameless before the Lord your God. 14For these nations which you will dispossess listened to soothsayers and diviners; but as for you, the Lord your God has not appointed such for you.” (Deuteronomy 18:9-14, emphasis mine)
Plain and simply, what they were doing was adulterous idolatry.
Modern Day Paganism
The paganism of Egypt and Canaan have not passed away, but are still alive and well today. We may be a high tech, advanced society sporting computers, smart phones, and electric cars, but the demonic entities of the Bible days are still active in our modern society. They may not go by the same names, but that does not mean they are not here, and it does not mean that people are not still practicing the same paganism. Here are some of their more modern names that the western world has come to accept: Witchcraft, Satanism, Wicca, Occultism, Illuminati, Freemasonry, and Mormonism to name a few. And these are not as innocent as they may at first appear to some, for they are just as bloody, deceptive and as demonic as their ancestors in Babylon, Egypt, Greece, Rome and even the Celts of France/Great Britain/Ireland.
The West likes to think of itself as more sophisticated and advanced, but it is not. Even the world of the 1950s television show Leave it to Beaver was not as pristine as many nostalgically look back upon, for even then the seething power of Lucifer was at work among secret societies, cults and Occultism who were even then planning for the demise and conquering of the world (which is just now being realized). This is evidenced by demonically oppressed people Christians included, as recounted by author Steve Hemphill (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdDf7PRcKsA). This oppression can include nightly sleep paralysis, nightmares, depression, fear, anxiety, demonically charged objects from foreign countries, etc. Furthermore, it is evidenced by the countless Satanic, ritually abused masses and who have been and are being delivered in the name which is above every name, Jesus Christ. This is recounted by men such as the now deceased evangelist and spiritual warrior Russ Dizdar (his website which contains hours of spiritual warfare training materials https://www.shatterthedarkness.net/; one of his powerful messages https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXXL4lgbWwc ) and the still living Pastor Doug Riggs (https://www.dougriggs.org/SRA-DID-Resources.html).
And these groups revel in Halloween because they know what it is really about: Lucifer the Lord of Death. Though not all of these groups participate in human sacrifice (such as Wicca), many of them do and will be doing so this Halloween. Not only this, but they will be saying curses and incantations over candy that “friendly” witches will hand out to eager children, even Christian children, who will then eat those candies and take that into themselves. They will demonically “charge” objects that they give to children and even the costumes that they make and then sell. To do so means that demons think that an object is theirs and will accompany it wherever it goes, even into a Christian home where it has been welcomed. Ex-Satanist John Ramirez warns Christians this very real danger of and true nature of Halloween (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q369iQJ49cY).
This happens more often than we like to think or admit. Don’t let cognitive dissonance fool you into thinking otherwise! (“The term cognitivedissonance is used to describe the mental discomfort that results from holding two conflicting beliefs, values, or attitudes. People tend to seek consistency in their attitudes and perceptions, so this conflict causes feelings of unease or discomfort.” https://www.verywellmind.com/what-is-cognitive-dissonance-2795012)
It has been a brilliant move on the part of Occultists to candy-coat Halloween, thus making it palatable to everyone as a fun, candy filled holiday celebrated with colorful costumes, bonfires, silly games, and amusing spookiness. But, this is the web of deception that has been and is being spun around those who do not have discernment and are not aware of the pulsating darkness ensnaring the world right now. For while everyone is having fun, dark curses are being spoken over those who participate, human sacrifices are being performed, and foul spirits are being welcomed into people’s homes.
Paganism is alive and well today, and its highest holy day (or shall I say unholy day) is the second most popular holiday in the west. This is the same as the paganism that God condemned and wiped out of Canaan. It is also the same paganism that infiltrated His people Judah and caused their judgment. It is the same unholy paganism of darkness that God calls His people out of, into covenant with Him as a holy people.
What did God have to say to Israel about participating in pagan holidays in the Promise Land? Did He say, ‘clean them up and make them nice and kid friendly’? Did He say, ‘you may pretend to sacrifice your children just don’t really do it’? Did He say, ‘well, you want to blend in so go ahead and participate’? Did He say, ‘you don’t want your kids to feel left out of all the fun’? Did He say, ‘it’s alright as long as you keep it innocent and don’t do bloody sacrifices’? Or ‘it’s okay so long as you talk to the pagans about me’?
No. God instead says in Jeremiah 7:30, that the“…the children of Judah have done evil in My sight,” says the Lord. “They have set their abominations in the house which is called by My name, to pollute it.” And, Jeremiah 10:21-22 states, “21For the shepherds have become dull-hearted,And have not sought the Lord; Therefore they shall not prosper, And all their flocks shall be scattered.22Behold, the noise of the report has come, And a great commotion out of the north country, To make the cities of Judah desolate, a den of jackals.”
So, should a Christian who is a holy, set apart priest of God to participate in such an unholy, pagan holiday? No. Need I say more?
Jesus is coming back for a spotless Bride, cleansed by the washing of His word, a holy, royal priesthood, children of light who are exposing the darkness, a peculiar people. Let us not continue to compromise with the world nor be deceived by the devil’s tactics. We must be pure. We must be holy. For without holiness, we will not see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14). And His holiness is exclusive. His holiness does not allow for participation in the works of darkness. His holiness does not engage in pagan holidays, no matter how colorful or sugary sweet or fun or traditional. Christians are to imitate God, not Lucifer.
Dear Christian, I pray that God opens your eyes to see the seriousness of this matter. May you see it the way that God sees it. The hour is late. Let us redeem the time for the days are evil (Ephesians 5:16).
I conclude with God’s holy word. May it touch you deeply, and become indelibly imprinted upon the tablet of your heart. “12The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. 14But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts,” (Romans 13:12-14). “13Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”” (1 Peter 1:13-16; Leviticus 11:44)
Just when you think it is dark enough, the darkness gets even darker. And as in any other time of darkness, we as Christians are to expose the evil by piercing the darkness with God’s light of truth (Ephesians 5).
Yet sometimes that darkness may not look dark, and the black may not look so inky. Let us not forget that “…Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14). Even so, what may appear to be light and truth, and those who propagate it may appear good and noble, caring and understanding, all of it is deception.
I do not write about this to scare Christians, but to bring to light the evil that is being called good, and to equip Christians (and whoever else is reading) with the truth that we might better know the “lateness” of the hour. For indeed, it is very late, so late that the clock has nearly run out.
But, for Christians, this is not a fearful thing, and ought not to be a sad thing, for it means that Jesus is coming back. Jesus is coming back SOON.
I remember when in junior high speaking to the others about Jesus coming back, but the other kids did not want Jesus to come back yet. They wanted Him to come back later, like after they had gone to college, bought a car, were successfully employed in their dream job, gotten married, had babies, bought a house, and on and on and on. Jesus’ coming was a major inconvenience.
But Jesus’ coming is not and has not ever been an inconvenience. Rather, in every generation it has been the hope that kept Christians looking up, and was the truth that kept Christians holy and set apart and unspotted by the world. And hope in Jesus is always a good thing.
That being said, I now need to bring something to light. What I am herein exposing, has already been exposed and explained well by others far more qualified than I. Thus, a host of links are listed below with quotes from the articles beneath their link. Please, refer to these quotes and links for more pertinent information.
Furthermore, their intent is and always has been to kill us and/or to control us, and to make money in the process. “”This Is A Bioweapons Program Designed To Kill Us” Dr. David Martin,” May 2021, https://www.bitchute.com/video/u1eJWbgj1ouW/ and “Dr Reiner Fuellmich and Dr David Martin 9 July 2021- Corona Investigative Committee,”https://www.bitchute.com/video/1PQYag9jznXG/. And, indeed, this has been known to be the plan at least since 1995 according to this snippet of a presentation given by Dr. Pierre Gilbert https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mav2dZqQOcE, and here in case youtube ever removes it https://www.bitchute.com/video/BFz8XLCkWj7d/. “In the biological destruction there are the organized tempests on the magnetic fields. What will follow is a contamination of the bloodstreams of mankind, creating intentional infections. This will be enforced via laws that will make vaccination mandatory. And these vaccines will make possible to control people. The vaccines will have liquid crystals that will become hosted in the brain cells, which will become micro-receivers of electromagnetic fields where waves of very low frequencies will be sent. And through these low frequency waves people will be unable to think, you’ll be turned into a zombie. Don’t think of this as a hypothesis. This has been done. Think of Rwanda.”
Now, back to Graphene Oxide. Graphine Oxide, also known as GO, “was first synthesized at the UK’s University of Manchester in 2004, earning its discoverers the Nobel Prize in 2010” (“Europe Has Invested €1 Billion Into Graphene”) and is known as a “wonder nanomaterial,” which is “200 times stronger than steel, yet is nearly invisible. It has “high electrical conductivity,” and thus has been used in RFID chips and wrist smart phones and tablets, and “could dramatically increase the power and energy densities as well as the life span of traditional lithium ion batteries.” When it becomes Graphine Oxide (oxide has to do with oxygen being added to it), it is used in water filtration for it is “hydrophilic dispersing readily in water and common organic solvents…It is also fluorescent, which makes it suitable for bio-sensing and disease detection…GO can easily be mixed or modified with different polymers and other materials, to create composite materials with enhanced physical, chemical and electrochemical properties in a process known as functionalisation.” (“Graphene Nanomaterials: Properties, Processes and Applications”).
Though various scientific websites state that Graphine is not toxic and is a good thing, none of them are quite sure how it is in vivo, which is a Latin term meaning, “within the living”. According to the Biology Dictionary, “The term in vivo refers to a type of experiment that is carried out within a whole, living organism, such as a plant or animal.” However, what is being found is that Graphene Oxide is indeed treated as a toxin/pathogen in the human body.
Why is this info about Graphene Oxide important?
This Graphene Oxide toxin is not only present in all of the COVID-19 vaccines, but it also causes the symptoms of what they are calling Sars-CoV-2. “In short, graphene oxide is the supposed SARS-CoV-2” (“Urgent Announcement: COVID-19 is caused by Graphene Oxide”).
This Graphene Oxide has been transmitted via masks, swabs, previous flu vaccines and now all of the COVID-19 vaccines. Furthermore, lithium has also been detected on the test swabs in recent surface test studies done in Slovakia. And it is known that “Graphene could dramatically increase the power and energy densities as well as the life span of traditional lithium ion batteries,” (“Graphene Nanomaterials: Properties, Processes and Applications”). Thus, Graphene Oxide could work in tandum with lithium to make it last longer.
Thus, all of the masking and swabbing and even flu vaccines actually helped to bring about the “illness” they are calling COVID-19, which has in turn caused people to get sick and even die, and with their government’s knowledge and even approval. And yes, I mean governments plural, for indeed, nearly every government worldwide is in on this plan. (“Technocrats Leading the World Into New Dark Age – Leo Hohmann,” https://aminutetomidnite.com/2021/07/21/365-technocrats-leading-the-world-into-new-dark-age-leo-hohmann/).
According to lawyer Thomas Renz, being interviewed on Daystar’s program Ministry Now on July 20, 2021, 45,000 people died within 3 days of getting the vaccination. (This specific episode: https://player.lightcast.com/zgjN3YTO; for all others on the topic of COVID: https://covid.daystar.com/). Indeed, according to “biostatistician Ricardo Delgado, Dr. José Luis Sevillano and the team of researchers and professors,” of La Quinta Columna, this discovery is “a full-fledged attack of State bioterrorism, or at least with the complicity of governments to the entire world population, now constituting crimes against humanity.” (“Urgent Announcement: COVID-19 is caused by Graphene Oxide”).
And chiropractor Dr. Eric Nepute on that same program on the same day, reminded me that we are not wrestling against flesh and blood. And indeed, we are not.
This is not about vaxxers vs. anti vaxxers. This is not about who is president or who is not president. This is not about Democrat or Republican, for this is not a political matter. This is good vs. evil. This is light vs. darkness. This is what has been happening since the beginning of this world in Genesis 1. But, I want to remind you today that no matter how dark it gets, no matter how evil’s tentacles grip the life of the world, no matter how far and wide it reaches, no matter how insane. . . we are not to walk in fear, EVER. We are not to give honor or reverence to the enemy by fearing what is happening: the vaccine, the door-to-door threats, the swab tests, the elected officials, the president, the occultist secret societies, the fictitious COVID-19/coronavirus/Sars-CoV-2/Graphene Oxide, or even death itself etc. We are to fear NO evil, for God is with us. His rod and His staff are protecting us, defending us, and He has never left us nor forsaken us, nor ever will. He has gone before us. He is our rearguard. He is our deliverer, and when God is for us, who can be against us? The light is still piercing the darkness, and the darkness is still not understanding it (John 1). God is still on the throne, and Jesus’ return is all the closer! He is on His way to judge the world in righteousness and the people with equity (Psalm 96; Psalm 98).
“1 (A Psalm.) O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.2 The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.3 He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.4 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.5 Sing unto the LORD with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.6 With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.7 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.8 Let the floods clap their hands: let the hills be joyful together9 Before the LORD; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.” (Psalm 98)
Quote: “…biostatistician Ricardo Delgado, Dr. José Luis Sevillano and the team of researchers and professors with whom they have been conducting their research have confirmed the presence of graphene oxide nanoparticles in vaccination vials…The masks being used and currently marketed contain graphene oxide. Not only the ones that were withdrawn at the time, as indicated by the media, the swabs used in both PCR and antigen tests also contain graphene oxide nanoparticles…
The COVID vaccines in all their variants, AstraZeca, Pfizer, Moderna, Sinovac, Janssen, Johnson & Johnson, etc., also contain a considerable dose of graphene oxide nanoparticles. This has been the result of their analysis by electron microscopy and spectroscopy, among other techniques used by various public universities in our country [Spain]…In short, graphene oxide is the supposed SARS-CoV-2, the supposed new coronvirus provoked before the disease called COVID-19. Therefore, we never had real isolation and purification of a new coronvirus, as recognized by most health institutions at the highest level and in different countries when they were questioned about it. COVID-19 disease is the result of introducing graphene oxide by various routes of administration…”
“The discovery made here by La Quinta Columna is a full-fledged attack of State bioterrorism, or at least with the complicity of governments to the entire world population, now constituting crimes against humanity.”
The Importance of “Glutathione” in Combatting Graphene Oxide
…assimilate this information and ‘reset’ the knowledge you had of the disease up to now from the highest governmental institutions telling the population to protect themselves and even forcing them with that which will potentially make them sick with the disease itself. Logically, now that we know that the cause or etiological agent of the disease is precisely a chemical toxicant and not a biological agent, we know how to attenuate it: by increasing glutathione levels. Glutathione is a natural antioxidant that we present in reserves in the organism.
A few details will help you to understand perfectly everything that has been reported in the media. Glutathione is extremely high in children. Therefore, the disease has hardly any impact on the child population. Glutathione drops very considerably after 65 years of age. Therefore, COVID-19 is especially prevalent in the senile population. Glutathione is at very high levels in the intensive sports population. This is why only 0.22% of athletes had the disease…”
Glutathione supplement can be found at any health food store near you or online. All Star Health is one such website, and Eden’s Essentials is another.
Presidents and authorities around the world, such as Sebastián Piñera and Boris Johnson, among others, have repeatedly announced that they intend to insert thoughts and emotions into people through 5G technology.
So, if it is science fiction, why are authorities around the world saying it as if it were a reality? Are they kidding people? Well, no. This is so real that there are even neuro-rights laws about to be passed in countries like Chile and already being discussed in Spain and, who knows, maybe in your own country and you have no idea about it…
Humanity is being parasitized by an artificial intelligence modulated by governments. They are acting synergistically to inoculate as many people as possible to be remotely controlled with 5G technology. The dream of every psychopathic and totalitarian mind, the Luciferian dream of the elites.
It could even be said that those who are being inoculated are receiving “the mark of the Beast”. Remember the supercomputer called ‘The Beast’? Well, that computer is a quantum artificial intelligence and, who knows, it could help control people through a mark —which is none other than the one left by the graphene oxide that is being inoculated, inhaled and sprayed on the world— and it would be a receiver of 5G frequencies. By the way, did you know that the atomic structure of graphene is hexagonal? Curious, isn’t it? An allegory to 666.”
“The biological effects of graphene oxide (GO) have been extensively investigated, as it has been widely used in biological research due to its increased hydrophilicity/biocompatibility. However, the exact mechanisms underlying GO‑associated lung toxicity have not yet been fully elucidated. The aim of the present study was to determine the role of GO in lung injury induction, as well as its involvement in oxidative stress, inflammation and autophagy. The results revealed that lower concentrations of GO (5 and 10 mg/kg) did not cause significant lung injury, but the administration of GO at higher concentrations (50 and 100 mg/kg) induced lung edema, and increased lung permeability and histopathological lung changes. High GO concentrations also induced oxidative injury and inflammatory reactions in the lung, demonstrated by increased levels of oxidative products”
“Different forms of graphene and their derivatives display different physical/chemical properties and biological toxicities. Graphene may be categorized as single-layer graphene, few-layer graphene, graphene oxide (GO), reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and graphene nanoribbons. Among these subtypes, the biological effects of GO have received the most attention, as it has been more widely used in biological research due to its higher hydrophilicity/biocompatibility.
Previous animal studies have demonstrated that graphene can enter the body through tracheal instillation, inhalation, intravenous injection, intraperitoneal injection and oral administration. Graphene penetrates the blood-air, blood-brain and blood-placenta barriers, and subsequently accumulates in the lung, liver and spleen, resulting in acute or chronic injury…”
“In conclusion, the results of the present study confirmed that the intravenous administration of GO induces lung injury in a dose-dependent manner, as demonstrated by lung edema and increased lung vascular permeability, histopathological changes, oxidative injury and inflammation. GO also significantly induced autophagy in lung cells, while autophagy inhibitors attenuated GO-induced lung injury. These results suggest that GO promotes autophagy-induced lung injury.”
Quote: “In this study, we report for the first time that nano-sized graphene oxide (GO) exhibits single-photon excitation wavelength dependent photoluminescence in the visible and short near-infrared (NIR) region, suitable for in vivo multi-color fluorescence imaging. We also demonstrate in both in vitro and in vivo experiments to show that nano GO can sensitize the formation of singlet oxygen to exert combined nanomaterial-mediated photodynamic therapeutic (NmPDT) and photothermal therapy (NmPTT) effects on the destruction of B16F0 melanoma tumors in mice using ultra-low doses (∼0.36 W/cm2) of NIR (980 nm) light.”
“The GO-PEG-folate exhibits single-photon excitation wavelength dependent photoluminescence operated under very low laser doses (5–10 mW/cm2). In addition, we also demonstrated for the first time that GO-PEG-folate can sensitize the formation of singlet oxygen to exert dual…”
Quotes: According to bio-statistician Delgado in an interview, “98-99% of the content of the vaccination vial corresponds to graphene oxide.”
Graphene Oxide is “…formed by the oxidation of graphite, which is cheap and readily available. GO is easy to process since it is dispersible in water and other solvents, and its also many times more conductive than copper and harder than diamond. GO bonds together in a repeating hexagon pattern. The biomedical applications of graphene-based materials, including drug delivery, have grown rapidly in the past few years. Graphene and graphene oxide have been extensively explored as some of the most promising biomaterials for biomedical applications due to their unique properties: two-dimensional planar structure, ultra-large surface area, chemical and mechanical stability and superb conductivity.
It is a toxin and “…the human immune system handles GO in a manner similar to pathogens. Delgado states that the GO in the experimental shot is indeed causing thrombi and deaths.”
“All the major C19 shots are manufactured using the same graphene oxide nano-technology. These particular nanoparticles remain un-magnetic when they are in an sub-zero degree environment, but they become magnetic when they reach the same temperature as the human body. This may explain the now undeniable phenomenon of countless people displaying magnetic properties after getting the jab.
Dr Jane Ruby, a pharmaceutical drug development expert, stated that it’s due to a substance added to the vaccines called superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles. They’re added because it’s an aggressive delivery system to get it into EVERY cell of your body. The process is called ‘Magnetofection’…”
“Graphene also causes a metallic taste and inflammation of the mucus membranes which can lead to a loss of taste and smell.”
“Graphene oxide breaks down in the body quite quickly, which is why they’re working on intranasal ‘vaccine’ top ups containing GO that can be administered into the nose as needed. GO is far more potent when aerosolized.”
“A study published 2014 by the National Library of Medicine demonstrates that once “superparamagnetic nanoparticles” are successfully delivered into the body via vaccines, they can be used to insert DNA into cells, altering their genetics…A second study, also published in PubMed/National Library of Medicine, states that superparamagnetic nanoparticles can be driven into brain cells through the use of external magnets..”
“Like any material, graphene oxide has what we call an ‘electronic absorption band‘. This means a certain frequency above which the material is excited and oxidizes very rapidly, thus breaking the equilibrium with the proliferation in the organism of the toxicant against our natural antioxidant glutathione reserves.GO nanoparticle biosensors can interact with neurons in the brain, they can map the brain and transmit and receive data, and instruct and interrogate neural networks, and be actioned using specific radio-frequencies. It would be naïve to rule 5G out.”
“Clearly the European Union (EU) sees a future in Graphene – they’ve invested well over a billion euros into a project called The Graphene Flagship…”
Note: Though this article does not mention Graphene Oxide, it is referring to magnetism being used to control the brain. Since Graphene is highly magnetic, it is quite possible and logical that it could be used in this capacity.
Quote: “Researchers in the United States have developed a new method for controlling the brain circuits associated with complex animal behaviours, using genetic engineering to create a magnetised protein that activates specific groups of nerve cells from a distance…In recent years, researchers have developed a number of methods that enable them to remotely control specified groups of neurons and to probe the workings of neuronal circuits…Optogenetics is invasive…” and Chemogenetics is too slow.
“The new technique, developed in Ali Güler’s lab at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, and described in an advance online publication in the journal Nature Neuroscience, is not only non-invasive, but can also activate neurons rapidly and reversibly.Several earlier studies have shown that nerve cell proteins which are activated by heat and mechanical pressure can be genetically engineered so that they become sensitive to radio waves and magnetic fields, by attaching them to an iron-storing protein called ferritin, or to inorganic paramagnetic particles. These methods represent an important advance – they have, for example, already been used to regulate blood glucose levels in mice – but involve multiple components which have to be introduced separately. The new technique builds on this earlier work, and is based on a protein called TRPV4, which is sensitive to both temperature and stretching forces. These stimuli open its central pore, allowing electrical current to flow through the cell membrane; this evokes nervous impulses that travel into the spinal cord and then up to the brain.”
“…the researchers inserted the Magneto DNA sequence into the genome of a virus, together with the gene encoding green fluorescent protein, and regulatory DNA sequences that cause the construct to be expressed only in specified types of neurons. They then injected the virus into the brains of mice, targeting the entorhinal cortex, and dissected the animals’ brains to identify the cells that emitted green fluorescence. Using microelectrodes, they then showed that applying a magnetic field to the brain slices activated Magneto so that the cells produce nervous impulses.”
“Neuroscientist Steve Ramirez of Harvard University, who uses optogenetics to manipulate memories in the brains of mice, says the study is “badass”…“This system is a single, elegant virus that can be injected anywhere in the brain…”
Quote: “Figure 14.DarpaHydrogel Crystals grow under the microscope in the direction of the magnetic field. In the human nasopharynx after swabs grow towards the pineal gland. The pineal gland creates a locally stronger magnetic field than the Earth ‘s external magnetic field.”
“Figure 21.Addition of Darpa Hydrogel from the test rod resulted in total massacre of red blood cells.”
“Darpa Hydrogel and lithium block and destroy the pineal gland and cause the thinking person to become a controllable biorobot. A hydrogel is a carrier of an active substance, its task is to get the substance into the body at a pre-desired place.Briefly on the issue of vaccines. Vaccines contain Darpa Hydrogel, lithium and patented genetic information. mRNA is not an untested novelty.”
The swabs used for PCR are also composed of hollow nylon fibers with Darpa Hydrogel.
“After spawning a mixture of nylon fiber fragments,Darpa Hydrogel remains on the nasal mucosa under the pituitary and pineal gland along with lithium. This mixture immediately reacts with living structures to form crystals that are directionally oriented to the pineal gland, which has its own electromagnetic field. The shape of the crystals determines the type of hydrogel used. The crystals are conductive due to the lithium contained in it. The crystals can receive the signal from the transmitter to the cell and transmit signals from the cell to the transmitter. These are actually nano-antennas.Lithium is an element (reference to Li)that does not occur naturally in humans. It is highly toxic to the pineal gland influence. In low doses it blocks it and in higher doses it can completely destroy it. Aluminum and mercury also have toxic effects on the pineal gland, which are widely used in vaccines. The pineal gland produces serotonin (a hormone of happiness) and controls human biorhythms. It is crucial for higher brain activity (creativity, foresight, sixth sense, etc.) and for social interactions of man.”
Quote: “theories about the presence of graphene oxide in the vials have been confirmed: there is definitely graphene oxide in the vials. All the suspicions they had about it have been allayed…Ricardo Delgado clarified the following: “First of all, we are not saying that we are anti-vaccine. The problem is that this is not a vaccine, this is a dose of graphene to a person.”“
Regarding microscopic images taken from the vials of vaccine and vials of graphene oxide, Ricardo Delgado says, “What we are going to do from now on is to show the images we have from the optical microscope and electron microscope analysis of the vial…it is important for you to know this because we always say that when someone goes to eat a hamburger, they ask what ingredients are in it. Well, they should at least know first hand what is in the vial, since they are going to inject it into their vein, right?”
Quote: “In the coming years, biodigital technologies could be woven into our lives in the way that digital technologies are now. Biological and digital systems are converging, and could change the way we work, live, and even evolve as a species. More than a technological change, this biodigital convergence may transform the way we understand ourselves and cause us to redefine what we consider human or natural.”
Quote: “Six years ago, the European Union (EU) embarked on an ambitious project to create a kind of Silicon Valley for the “wonder material” of the last decade: graphene….the EU’s investment in the Graphene Flagship represents the single largest project in graphene research and development (though some speculate that graphene-related projects in China may have surpassed it). In the past six years, the Graphene Flagship has spawned nine companies and 46 new graphene-based products…Graphene’s unique properties have engendered high expectations in a host of areas, including for advanced composites and new types of electronic devices. While graphene can come in many forms, its purest form is that of a one-atom-thick layer of graphite. This structure has provided the highest thermal conductivity ever recorded—10 times higher than copper. It also has one of the highest intrinsic electron mobilities of any material (the speed at which electrons can travel through a material), which is approximately 100 times greater than silicon—a tantalizing property for electronic applications. …graphene, which was first synthesized at the UK’s University of Manchester in 2004, earning its discoverers the Nobel Prize in 2010.”
Quote: “The efficiency of delivery of DNA vaccines is often relatively low compared to protein vaccines. The use of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) to deliver genes via magnetofection shows promise in improving the efficiency of gene delivery both in vitro and in vivo. In particular, the duration for gene transfection especially for in vitro application can be significantly reduced by magnetofection compared to the time required to achieve high gene transfection with standard protocols. SPIONs that have been rendered stable in physiological conditions can be used as both therapeutic and diagnostic agents due to their unique magnetic characteristics.”
Quote: “…graphene derivatives have attracted great attention in biomedicine. In this study, we carefully engineered graphene oxide (GO) as a vaccine adjuvant for immunotherapy…Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and various types of polyethylenimine (PEI) were used as coating polymers…certain dual-polymer modified GOs (GO-PEG-PEI) can act as a positive modulator to promote the maturation of dendritic cells (DCs) and enhance their cytokine secretion through the activation of multiple toll-like receptor (TLR) pathways…Moreover, this GO-PEG-PEI can serve as an antigen carrier to effectively shuttle antigens into DCs. These two advantages enable GO-PEG-PEI to serve as a novel vaccine adjuvant.”
About Graphene in general, its magnetism, nonotechnology, etc.:
“…over 10,000 academic papers about graphene, its properties and applications, are being published every year together with almost the same number of patent applications. This page describes the principles involved and some of the more common developments.”
According to this link Graphene is a “wonder nanomaterial”
It is, “200 times stronger than steel, yet incredibly lightweight…Can act as a perfect barrier due to its compact structure. Not even helium can pass through it. Transparent due to its infinitesimal thickness. Graphene absorbs only 2.3% of light transmitted through it so that it is almost invisible. The thinnest material known to exist…Because the fourth electron, the pi (π) electron, from the carbon atom’s valence shell is not naturally raised to a higher level there is no band gap associated with a separate conduction band. Electrically and thermally conductive with better conductivity than copper due to the highly mobile free pi (π) electrons. Since carbon is the Earth’s fourth most common element, graphene is very inexpensive…
“…stretching a graphene sheet can alter its magnetic properties. This causes its pi (π) electrons to move in circles in the plane of the graphene sheet…This could potentially enable control of the graphene’s conductivity, optical and microwave properties. Currently, there is no other sustainable method for generating magnetic fields of this magnitude.”
“Graphene nanotechnology is still in its infancy and many of the manufacturing processes and applications may have only been demonstrated in the laboratory while others are be still in the development stage. The biomedical experiments in particular have mainly been carried out on lab samples in test tubes and Petri dishes (in vitro) and have not been fully tested on living persons (in vivo). It could be some time before graphene is ready to be used in safe, reliable, cost effective, high volume, practical products.”
“The following are some of the electrical and electronic applications which are made possible by graphene’s unique properties:Graphene’s high electrical conductivity and very small dimensions makes it ideal for making miniature components with tiny contacts in electronic circuits.Conductive Inks made by mixing high optical transparency graphene flakes with ink, enable high conductivity electrodes and circuits to be printed directly onto flexible or other substrates used to reduce the impedance and increase the speed of computer and communications circuits.”
“Taking advantage of graphene’s mechanical and optical properties” it can be used in wrist smart phones and tablets, textile heating, and “RFID Tags with antennas printed using a graphene based ink…The high conductivity ink allows increased antenna current from the same power source which in turn increases the tag’s functioning range.”
“Graphene could dramatically increase the power and energy densities as well as the life span of traditional lithium ion batteries.”
About Graphene Oxide:
“In its natural state GO is used in membrane form in filtration applications, however it also finds important use as an intermediary product in the manufacturing of pure graphene (see Graphene Production below) as well as a precursor in the production of hundreds of chemically modified graphene derivatives…Graphene oxide (GO) is relatively easy to produce and in contrast to the highly conductive graphene (G), it is an electrical insulator…GO is, “hydrophilic dispersing readily in water and common organic solvents…It is also fluorescent, which makes it suitable for bio-sensing and disease detection…GO can easily be mixed or modified with different polymers and other materials, to create composite materials with enhanced physical, chemical and electrochemical properties in a process known as functionalisation.”
“A more promising method of exfoliation is by chemical means. This process involves the oxidation of graphite using strong oxidising agents to create graphite oxide. This modifies the graphite structure expanding the layer separation while at the same time making the material hydrophilic. This means that the layers can be dissolved and dispersed in water. Sonification, the application of sound waves, then separates the dissolved layers of graphite oxide into a small number of mono-layers of now called graphene oxide (GO).”
Thus, GO is also used in “Water Filtration, Gas Separation and Desalination.”
“GO has interesting optical properties: It can fluoresce over a wide range of wavelengths and also effectively quench the fluorescence of other fluorescent dyes called fluorophores. These characteristics give GO the potential as a useful fluorescence label for optical imaging.”
“Graphene and graphene-like nanomaterials can be tailored to form either fluorescent emitters or efficient fluorescence quenchers, making them powerful platforms for building optical biosensors which can sensitively detect various targets including ions, small biomolecules, proteins, DNA and RNA. Detection is based on spectral shift and intensity of the emitted light.
Changes in fluorescence can be monitored in the lab using a microscope. In vivo probes for monitoring living cells have been made using photodiode light detectors.”
Quote: “Big Pharma is correct when they emphatically state their jab doesn’t contain Luciferase. However, it appears the graphene contained within the operating system of the shot does create Luciferase once it gets inside the body. In essence, graphene turns light into an electrical current, having the fluorescent properties of a biosensor, an analytical device, used for the sensing of chemical substances, merging the biology of man with a synthetic detector.
The primary composition of graphene is carbon, and it’s main properties are magnetic, electrical, conductivity, photoluminescence, photovoltaic; the conversion of light into electricity and drug delivery.”
Below is a link to a Pastor Billy Crone interview by Gary Stearman on Prophecy Watchers regarding the rise of witchcraft in America.
And yes, occultism is very real in the U.S., is increasing in popularity, riddles Hollywood movies and the music industry, is polluting the Church, and is indeed a stronghold in the Pacific Northwest. I say this because out of all the cities in the U.S., it was in Seattle, WA. where the Satanists showed up in force to resist Sean Feucht’s worship protest back in the summer of 2020. It is Bremerton, WA. in 2015 that embraced Satanist protestors but ousted a Christian coach because he dared to pray with his football team, thus muzzling his God-given, Constitutional right to pray. Also, it is in Washington state that a large majority of churches stayed sedately, contentedly closed in the name of “compassion” for months in 2020, and though some have reopened, they are sleepy at best.
Though these stories of Seattle are not covered in the interview on Prophecy Watchers below, it is a potent proof that what Christians in the U.S. are up against is deeply, overtly, and boldly evil. Yes, we have always wrestled against the demonic and strongholds (Ephesians 6), but in these last days evil is being emboldened and growing by leaps and bounds. For as opposed to the secrecy of times past, those in modern day Occult/Witchcraft/Satanism/New Age are openly proud to be so. This evil is spreading in every state, and has permeated more than anyone would like to or dare to know, including the halls of Congress, the U.S. military, the courts, and other places of power and influence.
This information is not to scare Christians. This information is for our benefit. It is time to rise up, Church of God. The enemy knows his time is short, and is working ceaselessly to set up his kingdom and power on this earth. But, are Christians aware of the time? Are we working tirelessly for God’s Kingdom? Are we ready for our King’s SOON return and the end of the age?
Let us indeed, live out the words of the Apostle Paul in Philippians 2:12-16, “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;16 Holding forth the word of life…”
Come on, Body of Christ! Now is the time to arise and shine, for there will be no other time like this!!!!!
Okay Church! We have a part to play right now, and it’s not to roll over and play dead or to be oblivious or to pretend that nothing is happening! This time right now is just like the time when the children of Israel marched around Jericho. Just as the Israelites had been commissioned to march around Jericho once a day for six days and then seven times on the seventh day followed by the blowing of the seven trumpets accompanied by great shouts, even so, we as Christians are called to warfare prayer right now. We are called to march and keep on marching, to press on and press in even when we don’t know how it’s going to help nor understand its significance. The Lord says we are wrestling against “the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12). And yet, the battle belongs to the Lord (2 Chronicles 20:15), and we are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds (2 Corinthians 10). Jesus gave us authority in His name and said that we would trample on serpents and scorpions (Matthew 10 and Luke 10).
There is great warfare right now in America and the world. Persecution and martyrdom is dramatically on the rise from Eritrea to China to Nigeria to Ethiopia to Australia and even here in the United States of America (sources below). In California, Pastor Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills has called his congregation to a week of fasting and prayer for California and the nation. And Pastor Dana Coverstone of Kentucky has called on America’s churches to pray harder than they’ve ever prayed and in agreement in the month of September specifically (https://holylight4u.wordpress.com/2020/07/22/pastor-coverstones-dream-of-a-solemn-september-assembly-arise-my-bride/), and is co-leading a two days of prayer/fasting event beginning tonight in Austin, Texas. We are living in unprecedented times, which calls for unprecedented prayer, no matter what month we are in when you read this.
Often Christians will helplessly say, “I guess all I can do is pray.” We never seem to get it through our heads that prayer is powerful. It is our part to play, just like marching was the Israelite’s part to play. They could have said, “I guess all we can do is march;” “I guess all we can do is blow our seven trumpets even though seven is not a lot.” “I guess all we can do is shout with our weak voices.” All they could do?!!!! Do we not know how important our part to play is? Do we not understand the power of obedience? Have we believed the deception of the devil that we have nothing to give and that prayer is weak and unimportant? Did you know that when we avoid prayer or are too busy to pray, we are missing out on the important role God has for us to play and the incredible rush of victory that comes with it.
Seriously, GET UP CHRISTIAN. Get up in your spirit. Jesus said, when you see all these things begin to come to pass, to get up! Rise up, and lift up your eyes! So, arise in your spirit. This is your hour to shine. Arise and shine, for your light has come and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you! (Isaiah 60:1). Get up from your crouching, defensive position, your position of defeat and weakness, and rise to an offensive position on the battlefield of the Lord! Now is the time to charge! No weapon formed against you will prosper and every tongue that rises against you in judgement YOU shall condemn!!! (Isaiah 54:17). This is your heritage. Get your holy dander up! Pick up that sword of the Spirit and use it!!!
I speak to the battle weary, the physically weary. Rise up! Fight on! Press on! Do not be weary in well doing, for in the end you will reap a harvest if you faint not (Galatians 6:9). Persist. You can do all thingsIN Christ who strengthens you! (Philippians 4:13).
To those who are afraid of what is coming, Fear Not! Christ has overcome the world, and we have too by faith! (John 16:33; 1 John 5:4). Those who seek to save their lives will lose their lives (Luke 17:33). So, do not seek to preserve your life. Surrender all to the Savior. Choose to trust, and remember the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but are mighty through God! God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). “1 The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. 3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident” (Psalm 27:1-3).
“12 From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence, and violent people have been raiding it,” (Matthew 11:12). This is a passage that most read over quickly, and if they were to say a thing about its meaning they would consider it in a negative light. So, let’s briefly take a look at it.
The word for “subjected to violence” biazo (#971), is all about pressing in and “laying hold of something with positive aggressiveness” to seek it with intensity and zeal. This word is only used twice in the New Testament and is always positive. The Greek word for a “violent” person is of one who shows “positive assertiveness; used of the believer living in faith (“God’s inworked persuasions”) guiding and empowering them to act forcefully.” And what are these eagerly assertive ones putting all of their energy into? Snatching the Kingdom. They are snatching quickly and forcefully and openly. The word is harpazo (#726), which is the word for rapture.
Truly this is a powerful, overlooked passage, and it is time that we understand it. It appears that Jesus is teaching us that the Kingdom is obtained by those who pursue it eagerly, zealously, with great effort, and energetically. It is not for the timid, the distracted, the faint of heart, nor the laze fair (easy come, easy go). The way that many pursue pleasure and vacations and sports is the way we are to pursue the heavenly Kingdom.
The children of Israel who had just crossed Jordan, like Caleb and Joshua, were men and woman of zeal and energy who pursued the Promise Land in faith that God would keep His promise, that He would fight for them, that He would do what He said. The Promise Land was not free. God did not do all the work for the Israelites. He wanted them to stand in faith and in agreement with His plan to go up and take the land and visit judgment on those living in Canaan whose cup of iniquity was full (Genesis 15:16). And so Joshua, Caleb and other mighty men of valor marched in unquestioning faith.
Will we march in faith around these walls of Jericho in our lives, in our locked up churches, in our locked down states, in our crumbling, depraved nation, in the looming new world order? Are we doing our part by praying in zealous, relentless faith?
One day a great war will break out in heaven. Indeed, it could be happening as I write. It’s timing one cannot tell. Revelation 12 relates this, “7 Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9 The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.” Satan will finally be thrust out, and all those principalities and powers we’ve been wrestling with in spiritual hand-to-hand combat will be thrust out too. As they are being forcefully expelled, we are forcefully entering in. Can you see it? The picture is one of incredible precision and perfect timing. They are expelled; we are entering!
So, just like when watching your favorite team in the last seconds of the game when the score is tied and your team steals the ball, rise to your feet and shout!!!! For God in all His glory has risen from His throne, and the angels are clad in battle gear with flashing swords clashing. Time to shout, Bride! It’s time to arise!!! The shout of the King is among us!!!!
May we with this in mind, zealously press in to the Kingdom, pray without ceasing and with great fervor, and with every fiber of our being forcefully advance like the Israelites into the Promise Land. Our part may seem small, but do not despise small beginnings (Zechariah 4:10). Just get to marching, shout when it’s time, and see the walls come a tumbling down! This is not political. This is spiritual. We are not defeated! The war is already won! But we must march. We must shout. So, pray with me; pray in the thick of the battle; pray, pray, pray. And, remember, our God has given us the victory!!!
If we have already repented and wept between the porch and the alter (Joel 1-2), then it is time to shout! Let out a shout, Body and Bride of Christ! “…The LORD their God is with them; the shout of the King is among them,” Numbers 23:21b. Indeed, when God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:35). Hallelujah!!!!!
We are at war whether we want to be or not. We can call ourselves passivists, anti-war, but open war is upon us whether we like it or not. As for myself, I hate war and want nothing to do with it. Nevertheless, I and you and all of us are involved in a very real, spiritual war that is raging all around us. Ultimately, the war is won. Jesus won it at the cross. But, there are still daily battles in which the enemy tirelessly engages us.
But we are not to be on the battlefield without armor on. That is why God has fully fitted us with the perfect armor in order that we might win the battles in our daily lives. He has given us a very ornate, impenetrable helmet of Salvation. First of all, this means that Jesus saved us and set us apart for holy service in His Kingdom. But the salvation does not end there. It is a minute by minute salvation for our minds as well. When we eagerly put on our helmets, our thinking is protected and becomes more and more Christ-like as we are transformed by the renewing of our minds by the Word of God.
Furthermore, we are equipped with the sparkling belt of truth. And this we found out is no ordinary belt, but rather, is the defining feature of a soldier. Whether on the battlefield or off, the Roman soldier was recognized because of this distinct belt. This belt even made the soldier walk differently, stand differently, and act differently. No one else walked or stood like a soldier, and no one else wore such a belt. This for the Christian is the belt of truth, for the truth makes us walk differently, talk differently, act differently. The truth is what sets us free. The truth is what distinguishes Christianity from all other religions of the world. Not only this, but the belt of truth is that upon which much of the armor is connected in some form or fashion including the breastplate of righteousness and the sword.
So, let us continue learning about other pieces of this elaborate, protective, and ornate armor. Today we’re going to discover the Sword.
In Ephesians 6:17-18 we read,
“Also take…the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God…”
In the time of Jesus, Rome was all about achieving power and keeping power. Thus, having an army ready for battle and in top notch condition was vital for attaining this goal. War was a way of life. Battles were the norm. To be apart of the Roman machine was a mark of distinction. To be a Roman soldier was a thing of pride. And to know the art of war was beyond imperative.
“Because the Roman army was so committed to warfare, Roman soldiers continually practiced the arts of warfare. One daily exercise was sword practice, which they undertook both in the morning and the afternoon. Every soldier practiced sword fighting by striking a six-foot-high wooden post that was firmly fixed in the ground. This post became the soldier’s “enemy” during practice. Just as he would if he were fighting a real enemy, the soldier would advance upon his target, strike hard with his sword, and then retreat” (Sword Power! By Rick Renner, https://renner.org/sword-power/)
The ancient Roman writer Vegetius described Roman sword-fighting tactics in his book Concerning Military Matters, saying, “They were likewise taught not to cut, but to thrust with their swords…a stab, though it penetrates but two inches, is generally fatal” (“Sword Power!” By Rick Renner).
The Machaira and the Belt:
There were different types of offensive weapons that the Roman soldier could utilize. A dagger called a pugio was on the left side of the belt; arrows would be attached on the belt, as well as the shield when not in use; and then there was the sword. Other weapons of war included a long sword (a spatha) and a short sword (a gladius); there was also a javelin (pilum) for throwing.
The specific type of sword mentioned in Ephesians 6:17 is the (#3162) machaira meaning, “A knife, a slaughter-knife, a sword for cutting.” It can be a generic term for sword, but throughout history it is said to have had a curve at the tip, was often sharp only on one side, was made for cutting, and was made to kill.
Interestingly enough, “Legally, the wearing of arms – especially a sword – at all times in public defined the soldier” (“The Roman Military Belt,” by Stefanie Hoss, http://www.academia.edu/212354/The_Roman_Military_Beltpg 29). It “separated soldiers from civilians by the right to wear arms – especially a sword – at all times in public” (“A Theoretical Approach to Roman Military Belts,” Stefanie Hoss, idea from Brunt 1975, pg 318). Therefore, the sword never left the Roman soldier’s side. Never. Not only was it legal for them to wear the sword at all times, but it was imperative, for the sheath of the sword was permanently attached to the belt. Other things could be removed from the belt such as the dagger and its sheath, but the sword’s sheath could not be removed. And a sheath without a sword would look very odd. According to Stephanie Hoss, “…the sword’s sheath was connected to the belt in a manner that probably took some time to take off. If one wanted to take off the sword, one usually took off the sword-belt with the sword in its sheath” (“A Theoretical Approach to Roman Military Belts,” Stefanie Hoss, http://www.academia.edu/4849015/A_Theoretical_Approach_to_Roman_Military_Belts, pg. 321). Thus, the Roman soldier went nowhere without his belt or his sword inseparably linked.
The Truth and the Word
Just as the belt and the sword were inseparable, the Truth and the Word of God are also inseparable. Time after time in Scripture the Word of God is equated with Truth from 2 Timothy 2:15 to Ephesians 1:13 to Colossians 1:5 to 1 Thessalonians 2:13 in the New Testament; to Psalm 119:43 and Psalm 119:151 in the Old Testament. Numbers 23:19 states, “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” Furthermore, Jesus in John 17:17 when praying to the Father asks that the Father “Sanctify them through Thy truth; Thy word is truth.” Not only this, but Jesus said that He Himself is “The Way, the Truth and the Life.” As we can see, God does not lie, God is truth, and therefore what He says is truth. His word and His truth are inseparable.
Rhema vs Logos
The sword to the Roman soldier was serious business, and was a matter of life and death. The one who treated it as such would live longer than a soldier who did not. For the enemy was out to kill them. It was kill or be killed. It was conquer or be conquered.
In Ephesians 6:17 it states that the Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. The Greek word used for “word” in this instance is not the usual term of Logos referring to the written word (like the term used for Jesus when it says that He was the Word/Logos made flesh), but instead is the term Rhema. The Greek word Rhema (Strong’s #4487) means “to speak” particular sayings rather than complete sayings. It is from Rheo (#4483) meaning, “To say, speak, utter definite words”. Basically it has to do with being specific. In other words, it’s the exact Word of God needed for a specific situation.
“This is so powerful — and I want to tell you why! Had Paul used the word logos in this verse, he would have implied a “sweeping stroke” against the enemy, and this would never do. You see, the logos — although broad, heavy, wonderful, and full of general direction for our lives — is not sufficient to deal the enemy a fatal blow. We need to stab the enemy! This will require a rhema — a specific, quickened word from the Scriptures, placed into our hearts and hands by the Holy Spirit. With a rhema from God placed in our hearts and hands, we have real sword power to use against the enemy!” (Rick Renner, “Be Sure to Go to Sword Practice,” https://renner.org/be-sure-to-go-to-sword-practice/)
Important to Note
Thus, we see that the Word of God is a specific word of God, called a Rhema word. The Sword of the Spirit is meant to be used and made to kill. Sword practice is imperative. And even when not in a battle the Sword is never to be detached from the Belt of Truth, and the Belt is never to be taken off.
Example of How to Use the Sword
And excellent example of using a Rhema word, ie a specific, Spirit-inspired word, is found in Matthew 4:1-11.
“Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.”
Yet Another Way to Use the Sword
But, there is one more important thing to take note of, and that is this. The Sword of the Spirit is used through prayer. Though most if not all translations of the Bible do not capture this connection, in the Greek the connection is inseparable.
A more literal translation of Ephesians 6:17 ties it in with verse 18 and reads as follows,
“Also take…the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God through all prayer and petition, praying at every [all] time in the Spirit, and watching to this same thing with all perseverance and petition concerning the saints” (A Literal Translation of the Bible, by Jay Greene, Sr. 1985)
“Through All Prayer and Petition”
We are to take hold of the sword of God’s specific Rehma words for specific situations and continuously use it by means of earnest prayers and wishes made aloud and beseeching petition for particular needs. You see, the word for “prayer” literally means “to wish or pray or vow” aloud and with great earnestness. The word for “petition” means “to make one’s particular needs known” to someone superior to the one requesting. It carries with it the feeling of great need, even neediness, and of being reduced to want.
Through: #1223, dia means literally through or throughout, but has the implied meaning in this case of “by means of”. It also carries with it a sense of time and implies ongoing time, continuous time.
So, in reference to prayer in this passage it could read: “continuously use (God’s word) by means of prayer”.
All: #3956, Pas which literally means all and “includes the idea of oneness, a totality, or the whole” (The Complete Word Study Dictionary New Testament,” Edited by Spiros Zodhiates Th.D., page 1125).
Prayer: #4335, prosueche “offer prayer” in general from the verb, proseuchomai, “to wish to, to pray to” and is composed of two words: pros = to (4314) and euchomai = to wish, pray (2172)
#2172 euchomai literally means “to pray or vow” aloud, to speak out loud, “to desire earnestly.”
Petition: #1162, deesis meaning “to make known one’s particular need,” beseech as an inferior to a superior. From #1189 implies “To be reduced to want,” or can mean “to lack for oneself, to need”. So, a “prayer for a particular need, supplication.”
God wants us to come to Him with our great need, our earnest desires, our incredible wishes, to speak them out loud and often. But, He doesn’t just want us coming to Him with our own words. He wants us coming to Him with His own words. He wants us to be reading and memorizing and meditating upon His Logos (that is the whole Bible) so that in moments of distress the Holy Spirit can bring to our minds and quicken us with His Rehma Word (a specific passage from Scripture) for our individual situation, our specific necessity (John 14:26; I John 2:20).
Though the shield of faith can be viewed as an offensive weapon (as described in the article listed below), it is not offensive in and of itself, for it must be used in tandem with the sword. The Sword of the Spirit could be said to be our only truly offensive weapon in our God-given arsenal. We don’t have grenades that we can lob from a distance. We don’t have cannons with cannon balls that can blow our enemy away before they even reach us. We don’t have airplanes with bombs on board to send cascading down on the enemy’s military forces behind enemy lines. We don’t even have a handgun for protection. God instead has given us a Sword for wrestling in hand-to-hand combat with an enemy that is near enough to wrestle with, his rancid, sulfurous breath breathing in our faces.
And like the Roman soldier always wore his belt, even so we are to keep on our belt of Truth which is the Logos word of God (the whole Bible), upon which is the inseparable sword of the Spirit that is the Rhema word of God. This Sword of the Spirit is to be worn proudly every day in every situation and is never to be removed at any time. According to 1 Thessalonians 5:17 we are to “pray without ceasing.” In both Matthew 7:7 and Luke 11:9 Jesus encourages His followers to ask, seek and knock. In the Greek these words do not mean that we only ask once, but rather, the tense strongly implies that we are to continually ask and keep on asking, seek and keep on seeking, knock and keep on knocking. We are to be persistent like the widow with the unjust judge, for our God is not unjust (Luke 18). The sword of the Spirit which is the word of God is to be used in prayer and petition continually. And it is extremely effective and deadly to the enemy when we live a lifestyle of rightly dividing God’s Word of Truth (2 Timothy 2:15-16), when we live a lifestyle of prayer, and when we combine both the Word of God and prayer via the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
It is not called “the art of war” for no reason. It is an art. It is an art form in that we must practice. Remember the saying “practice makes perfect”? But it is also an art in that we must allow for inspiration, specifically, Holy Spirit-Inspiration. After all, it is the Holy Spirit’s sword. Thus, we must carefully listen for His still small voice in order to let Him direct us regarding what scriptures to use in prayer. Without His inspiration, the Sword will remain inactive at our side. God must teach our hands to war, even as He did for King David in Psalm 144.
“Also take…the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God through all prayer and petition, praying at every [all] time in the Spirit, and watching to this same thing with all perseverance and petition concerning the saints” (A Literal Translation of the Bible, by Jay Greene, Sr. 1985).
The enemy without ceasing, night and day, tirelessly wrestles against us. So, let’s diligently keep on praying the Spirit-inspired rhema word of God over each others’ lives, keeping in mind always that Jesus is praying for us (Romans 8:34) and that we are therefore “more than conquerors through Him that loved us” (Romans 8:37).
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:35-39)
Knowing this, let us take up the Sword of the Spirit and persevere!
Here is a list of other teachings from this series, “We Are At War”:
Here are some things we have learned so far about Ephesians 6.
*We are war.
*The combat is up close and personal and very real.
-The battle is unseen
-The battle is spiritual
-The battle is mostly in the mind
*God has equipped us.
-A showy, impenetrable helmet
-An ornate, indispensable belt
-A small but deadly sword
“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”
The Make of the Roman Shield
The ancient Roman shield of Jesus’ day was called a scutum (plural scuti). A scutum was a semi-cylindrical, rectangular shape, was four feet tall, two and half feet wide, and weighed around twenty pounds. The Roman shield was made of several components including wood, several woven together layers of leather that became so strong it was nearly like steal (Rick Renner, “Spiritual Warfare: Understanding Your Shield of Faith” https://renner.org/spiritual-warfare-understanding-your-shield-of-faith/), canvas, iron edging, and a central feature or “boss” was made of iron, bronze or brass, (“Roman Gladius and Scutum: Carving Out An Empire” http://www.historynet.com/roman-gladius-and-scutum-carving-out-an-empire.htm). Interestingly enough, the scutum covered most of the soldier’s body. Furthermore, “The word “shield” is the Greek word thureos, which was used by the Greeks and Romans to depict an oblong door that was wide in width and long in length. The reason Roman soldiers used this word to describe their battle shields was that their shields were actually door-shaped! They were wide in width and long in length, just like the door of a house,” (Rick Renner, “Spiritual Warfare: Understanding Your Shield of Faith” https://renner.org/spiritual-warfare-understanding-your-shield-of-faith/).
The Use of the Roman Shield
The scutum was not wielded like any other shield, for it was too large to be maneuvered quickly. Most importantly, it was not merely defensive, but was first and foremost, used offensively. The Roman soldier did not wait for the enemy on the field to advance to him. After getting close to the enemy, volleys of pila were thrust at them. Pila were javelins that would stick in an opponent’s shield rendering it difficult to wield (“The Shield: An Abridged History of It’s Use and Development” http://myarmoury.com/feature_shield.html). It was then that the Roman soldier would charge forward with shield stretched out directly in front of him, his left arm straight and set. With the shield he would ram his enemy, knocking him off guard and possibly off of his feet. After doing this, the Roman soldier would could use the metal edges of his shield to hack at his opponent. If hacking was not an option for whatever reason, the Roman soldier would thrust his shield into the ground and fight from behind it, either in a crouching or kneeling position.
The Preparation of the Shield
Because the shield to the Roman soldier was of utmost importance offensively and defensively, he daily set aside time to oil its leather. After all, if leather gets dry, it cracks, and one does not want a faulty shield, especially when your life is at stake.
On top of this, before a battle, they would saturate their shield with water. This of course would make it heavier. So, why would they do this?
The opponents often had arrows they would shoot in the direction of the Roman advancement. Sometimes they were just ordinary arrows, and therefore, harmless so long as one held up their shield. Other times the ends of the arrows were set on fire so that when they hit their mark a fire would kindle. And then there were the insidious arrows which only appeared to be ordinary arrows but were filled with explosive material that would explode into fire as soon as the target was met (https://renner.org/take-up-your-shield-of-faith/). However, when any type of arrow (ordinary, fiery, or deceptively explosive) met the Roman’s saturated shield, the arrow fizzled and could not do the damage it was intended to do.
For this reason, it was imperative that the Roman soldier prepare his shield daily with oil, and with water before battle.
The Verse: Why “Above All”?
Now, to the Christian, the shield that we wield is that of faith. And according to the Apostle Paul Christians are to “Above all,” take it up. “Above all” however, does not mean that it is more important than the rest of the armor nor that it should be held onto more than the others nor to be chosen above the others. “The phrase “above all” is taken from the Greek phrase epi pasin. The word epi means over. The word pasin means all or everything. So rather than stating that the shield of faith is more important than the other pieces of armor, the phrase epi pasin describes the position faith should have over the other pieces of armor. It could be better translated, “Out in front of all….” or “Covering all….”” (Rick Renner, “Take Up Your Shield of Faith” https://renner.org/take-up-your-shield-of-faith/). In other words, the shield is not to be at our side or on the ground or in a closet or in another state. The shield is to be directly in front of us, covering all of us as well as covering most of the other armor that we are wearing. It is to cover all.
The Verse: What Does “Taking” Mean?
When Paul says, ““…Taking the shield of faith….” the word “taking” is from the word analambano, which is a compound of the Greek words ana and lambano. The word ana means up, back, or again; the word lambano means to take up or to take in hand. When compounded together, it means to take something up in hand or to pick something back up again. This plainly means your shield of faith can be either picked up or laid down. It places the responsibility on you as to whether you will use your shield of faith or allow yourself to go through life unprotected,” (Rick Renner, “Take Up Your Shield of Faith” ).
The Rest of the Verse
“…wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”
When it says Christians “shall be able” this is not just an ordinary word. It sounds rather stale or limp actually, “shall be able”. But, incredibly it comes from the word dunamis. You all know what dynamite is. Dynamite is an explosive, and explosive dynamite gets its name from this word dunamis. Perhaps a better way to translate what Paul said is ““Above all, taking the shield of faith, by which you will be dynamically empowered.…” (“Here’s How to Extinguish the Fiery Darts” https://renner.org/heres-how-to-extinguish-the-fiery-darts-of-the-wicke/).
Think about that! Christians are explosively, dynamically empowered by this shield of faith.
So…what does this mean for us as Christians? What does God want us to learn from this information? And how do we apply it?
To begin with, the Lord has given us a unique, body sized, door shaped shield. It is large enough to completely cover us if it is held directly in front. It is not just a defensive weapon, but is really our first line of offense. But, in order for it to work for us, we must take care of it. First of all we must oil our faith daily. How do we do that? In the Bible oil is most often associated with the Holy Spirit, and it says in Ephesians 5:18 that we are to be freshly filled with the Holy Spirit over and over and over again. It says, “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit…” In the Greek this being filled is a continuous, ongoing thing. So we need our faith to be oiled by the continuous filling of the Holy Spirit.
Secondly, we must saturate our faith. But what are we to saturate it with? Questions? Fears? Doubts? In Ephesians 5:25-27 the Apostle Paul has already given us the answer to this question by saying, “…Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” Thus, we see that the way we get a saturated faith is through the “washing of water by the word.” Indeed, we can’t even really have faith without the word. As Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” So we need our faith to be saturated with the word of God.
Remember, if our shield of faith is not oiled, it will crack and ultimately bring about certain death. We are in a very real battle with an enemy who is out to “steal, kill, and destroy” us. This is not a game. Furthermore, our shield of faith must be saturated with the word of God or else the deceptive fiery darts of the enemy will hit us and set us on fire. Without the water of God’s word we cannot “quench” those deadly darts.
And finally, we as Christians must daily choose to take up the shield of faith and charge into battle. Remember, the Roman soldier did not saunter; he did not casually walk into battle. He charged. He meant business. The well-oiled, water saturated shield is our first offensive weapon. It knocks our enemy off guard; it gives us a foothold on the battlefield. And it covers us completely. Not one of us is lacking in faith. Not one of us has too little faith or needs to increase in faith, for according to Romans 12:3 God has given each of us a measure of faith. And that measure is perfectly proportioned to each of us, and covers us exactly where each of us needs it. All we need do is take it up and use it.
Here is a list of other links from the series, “We Are At War”:
We have been learning that we are at war with an unseen enemy. We are in hand to hand combat with an enemy that wants to destroy us, but we have been empowered by God so that we can withstand all orderly methods/strategies of the enemy no matter what level that enemy is whether “against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (verse 12). The empowering that we have received from the Lord is in the form of armor, and is composed of pieces, of which we are to take up the “whole” armor of God, not just one piece or two. These pieces include: the helmet, the breastplate, the belt, the shield, the sword, and the shoes.
Let’s review the pieces of armor that we have covered so far, namely the helmet, the belt, the shield and the sword.
The helmet was flashy, showpiece that was also durable, weighty and an impenetrable protection against the battle axes of the enemy. This is a picture of our salvation: Impenetrable and ornate. The helmet of our salvation is there to protect our thinking, for we have been given the mind of Christ. The helmet is one of wholeness, security, right thinking, renewal, a shield from destructive mindsets and emotions. It is a helmet that enables us to change our form and be transfigured from the earthly to the spiritual, from darkness to light.
The well-oiled, water-saturated shield is our first offensive weapon. Thus, is our faith. Our faith is offensive not defensive. It knocks our enemy off guard; it gives us a foothold on the battlefield. Remember, the shield of the Roman soldier covered them completely. Even so, each of us is covered completely by our faith, and not one of us is lacking in faith. But we need to keep our faith anointed with the Holy Spirit and washed with the water of the Word of God. After all faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Remaining in the Word and the refilling of the Holy Spirit will oil and saturate our faith so that the enemy’s deceptions will do us no harm.
Not only this, but the belt of truth is that upon which much of the armor is connected in some form or fashion, including the breastplate of righteousness and the sword.
The Roman soldier always wore his sword, for his sword and belt were intertwined so as to not be separated. Though most of Roman society could not wear a weapon in public, the soldier could. Even so, God’s belt of truth and His sword of the Spirit that is the Word of God are intimately linked and inseparable. There is no truth outside of God’s Word. When it comes to the Christian, this sword is of the Spirit and is the Word of God. But, the Word of God referred to here is not the entire Word (logos), but rather, a specific passage from Scripture (Rhema) for a specific situation, and is to be even more specifically used in warfare prayer. Yes, the whole Word is inspired, indeed, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thouroghly furnished unto all good works,” I Timothy 3:16-17. But, in instances of praying, specific inspired passages of the inspired Word will be brought to mind by the Holy Spirit that are to be used as a sword against the enemy.
Putting on Our Shoes
Today, we are going to look at what we as Christians are to have upon our spiritual feet.
“Stand therefore having…your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace…”
Before we ever go anywhere, we get dressed, and a very important part of getting dressed is putting on our shoes. There are actually restaurants and other establishments that still put up signs that say, “No shirt, no shoes, no service.” Shoes are very important. And more important than that, is what kind of shoes you wear!
A Roman Soldier’s Battle Shoes
When a Roman soldier was not on the battlefield, he could still be recognized as a soldier. In our modern day everyone looks alike when not in uniform. If one nowadays is in the military or the medical field or is a farmer or waitress or a manager of a store or even a pastor of a church, everyone in their off time seems to dress the same. However, back in Paul’s day, that was not the case. So, how did people know that a soldier was a soldier even when on leave? His belt and his shoes.
According to researcher Stefani Hoss, “Only the hobnailed caligae and the belt can be defined as typical for soldiers, identifying them as milites [military] even when they were not wearing amour. While caligae were also worn by civilians, they are typical for soldiers. Literary sources and inscriptions describe soldiers’ expressis verbis as caligati or as serving in caligae. And the hobnailed boots and their wearers are also equated both in the Roman and Jewish literature at the time.” (“A Theoretical Approach to Roman Military Belts,” by Stefani Hoss, http://www.academia.edu/4849015/A_Theoretical_Approach_to_Roman_Military_Belts, page 320-321). “The military belt was decorated with elaborate buckles, metal plates, strap-ends and other attachments, which made it heavy, eye-catching and jingly. Together with the crunch of hob-nailed sandals, the jingling of the metal belt pieces must have given soldiers a distinctive ‘sound’, announcing their presence.” (The Roman Military Belt,” by Stefani Hoss, http://www.academia.edu/212354/The_Roman_Military_Belt, page 30).
In other words, before you even saw a soldier approaching, you heard him, from the jingling of his belt, the clanking of the inseparable sword, and the clacking of his hobnailed shoes.
The shoes a soldier wore were cleated, sort of like golfer’s shoes or baseball players. They also had a spike at the heal and the toe. In other words, these shoes meant business and were made for both stability on the battlefield and to be a weapon against the enemy. “One good kick with those shoes, and an enemy would be dead. Just a few seconds of stomping on a fallen adversary would have eradicated that foe forever!” (“Are You Wearing Your Killer Shoes?” by Rick Renner, https://renner.org/are-you-wearing-your-killer-shoes/).
As Christians who are at war, we are to make sure that we get the correct footwear on our feet, and Ephesians 6:15 tells us exactly what those shoes are.
“Stand therefore having…your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace…”
Just as the Roman soldiers tightly tied on their “killer shoes”, we too are to snugly tie on these cleated shoes for ourselves. No one else can put the shoes on for us. We do it, and we are to always be ready with our feet tightly fitted with these shoes. The Greek tense expresses this clearly. The shoes we are to put on are called “preparation.” However, another way to translate this word is “foundation or firm footing.” So, we are to put on the shoes of the firm foundation of the Gospel which also means “good news”. The Apostle Paul used this description of the Gospel elsewhere in Scripture including 1 Corinthians 3 where he explicitly states that there is to be no other foundation but that of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And it is this Gospel that brings “peace”.
Peace in both the Greek and Hebrew carries with it the powerful meaning of wholeness in every way including our bodies, our minds, our spirits and our finances. It is the absence of confusion and war. It is “Truly the tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, fearing nothing from God and consequently content with its earthly lot, whatever it is” (The Complete Word Study Dictionary, by Spiros Zodhiates, page 520).
But this peace is not for our enemy. With our cleats we not only are held firmly in place doctrinally, be we can also use them to stomp on the evil that would steal, kill and destroy us. Greek scholar Rick Renner states, “…As the soldier used those spikes to kick and to kill his opponent, there is no need for you to ever stop moving ahead just because the devil tries to block your path. If he is foolish enough to try to get in front of you, just keep walking! Stomp all along the way! By the time you’re finished using your shoes of peace, you won’t have much of a devil problem to deal with anymore!” (“Are You Wearing Your Killer Shoes?” by Rick Renner, https://renner.org/are-you-wearing-your-killer-shoes/).
This is what we as Christians are to put on our feet. The firm foundation of the Gospel of wholeness in body, mind, and spirit, peace and not confusion is that in which we are to walk. For it is this Gospel of Christ that stabilizes us in every terrain no matter how treacherous, and steadies us on a very slippery, messy, litter ridden battlefield. When we are firmly founded on the Gospel and know that which we believe, we cannot lose our footing and thus, the enemy cannot knock us down. And even when not in a spiritual battle in our mind or in prayer or otherwise, when our feet are shod with the firm foundation of the Gospel of peace, people will know that we are different. Even as the Roman soldier when on leave strolling through town was still known to be a soldier because of the clacking of his cleats, we too ought to sound and walk differently than everybody else all the time and in every situation. Indeed, wherever we are, everyone should know that we are Christians.

The Full Armor of the Living God is an armor of light given to us by our Lord who is light within light. The wearing of this armor is imperative and is a matter of life and death in every way, for we are born on a battlefield. We are born both physically and spiritually and emotionally on a battlefield, and not merely on a battlefield, but that battlefield is in enemy territory. God has reclaimed that battlefield, but the enemy still thinks it is his. And we are in the cross-hairs. Thus, we MUST be armed for all out war.
This is not a war whose end is unclear nor up for grabs nor is a toss up. Rather, this is a war that is already won. Through the apparent weakness of the cross the greatest victory in the world was determined. Through the weakness of love, all evil in every way was completely and utterly defeated at the foot of the foolishness of the old rugged cross.
But the battle is very, very real, and is really, really dirty. The enemy has learned how to play us, and he plays us well. And we literally fall for it all of time.
But, God in His incredible victory has not left us powerless. No! Indeed, He has to powerfully equipped us with armor by His Spirit that if we could ever begin to fathom it, grasp it, or begin to tap into this power, we would be in awe as the enemy is blown away!
So, what is this armor that we are to don with confidence and the authority of the Most High? Number one, we are to snugly fit upon our heads the Helmet of Salvation which is all about having right, faith-filled, Christ-like thinking, Bible mindsets, with thoughts set upon things above and not on earthly things and on the incredible hope of eternal salvation in the presence of the Living God! Next we are to put on our dazzling Belt of Truth which holds it all together, the belt which we are to wear wherever we go and whenever we go there. We also lace up tightly the Shoes of the Gospel of Peace, an unshakable peace that the world cannot give nor understands; shoes that stabilize us in the slipperiest and bloodiest of battlefields and keep us firmly planted in the Word rather than circumstances. We are take up the body-sized Shield of Faith that covers us completely, successfully protecting us defensively and offensively, and if watered by the Word and oiled by the daily anointing of the Spirit will quench every fiery dart of the enemy. Then taking up the Sword of the Spirit that is the Word of God we are called to jab the very evil that would steal, kill and destroy us. With the truth of the Word of God supernaturally inspired by the Spirit through us in prayer deals a death blow to the enemy.
Indeed we have been dressed by God to kill a very real, demonic enemy.
But, there is one piece of armor…one more vital bit of equipment that cannot be overlooked, for to go into battle without it was beyond heedless and meant certain death. This life saving, undeniably important protection is the Breastplate of Righteousness.
The Roman Breastplate in Jesus’ Day
“The breastplate was a central part of the Roman soldier’s armor—it provided protection for the torso, which contains vital organs like the heart, lungs and so on. Without a breastplate, a soldier would be asking for death, as any attack could instantly become fatal. With a sturdy breastplate, the very same attacks become ineffective and useless, as blows glance off the armor,” (Bible Study Guides).
“The Romans had the ideas for armor design which provided light weight combined with ease of movement and protection from blows. This breastplate was attached to the belt by leather thongs passed through rings on the bottom to keep it solidly attached. It was anchored to the belt, and it was above the belt. Note: the belt had to be put on first, then the breastplate,” (The Christian Arsenal).
“The Roman breastplate was typically made of bronze, backed with leather. It was designed to protect the vital area. A blow through this was usually fatal,” (Chuck Missler).
The Biblical Breastplate
“The breastplate or heart-guard that Paul was recommending was not made of hard metal, but of something much stronger. It is made of righteousness. The Greek word used for righteousness is dikaiosune, Strong’s #1343, defined as “equity (of character or act); specially (Christian) justification.” Vine’s defines the word as “the character or quality of being right or just”; it was formerly spelled ‘rightwiseness,’ which clearly expresses the meaning.” (Dan Wesol).
Truly, righteousness is “the conformity to the claims of higher authority and stands in opposition to… lawlessness,” (The Complete Word Study Dictionary, pg 458). Thus, righteousness is the crucifying of our way of living and the complete surrender to living life God’s way. This is our breastplate.
Man’s Righteousness Vs. God’s
Throughout the history of the world, individuals and people groups, false religions and cults of all kinds have sought to do good in order to please a transcendent being far beyond themselves in order to accrue enough credit in the heavenlies for the sake of their uncertain eternal security. Much has been done to appease countless gods and goddesses, and innumerable moments have passed as people do good for others simply because it makes them feel good to do so. The social gospel is highly active even today, and anyone and everyone can and does get caught up in the wave of it. “But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; we all fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away,” (Isaiah 64:6). “As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one,” (Romans 3:10-13).
Even Christians can get caught up in the “doing good” bug, and become driven by good works and achieving goals and seeking to look good in the eyes of others. But, “Putting on His breastplate of righteousness is not “putting on” your own good works, integrity, or honesty. It is not “putting on” Bible reading and prayer. It is not “putting on” church attendance. When we put on the cloak of His righteousness, it contrasts with our righteousness,” (Chuck Missler). For indeed, righteousness is all about God and not about us at all. The Lord is the source of all righteousness, even the very foundation of His throne is righteousness and justice and the heavens declare His righteousness and all people have seen His glory (Psalm 97).
Application: Being Not Just Doing
The greatest glory of God’s righteousness has been exemplified for all to see through Jesus Christ His beloved Son. As Ephesians 2:8-10 reads, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” The incredible magnitude of God’s righteousness superseding our goodness is apparent in this passage. On top of this is that undeserving as we are we have been made God’s righteousness (II Corinthians 5:21) and because of this, we have been empowered to do righteous deeds the right way and for the right reason. This is righteousness.
“People have different ideas about righteousness. We must understand that righteousness is something we are, not something we do. Righteousness within us affects what we do, but what we do does not make us righteous,” (Chuck Missler).
Now that we have been made the righteousness of God in Christ, “let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love…” (I Thessalonians 5:8). Thus, the breastplate of righteousness is also a breastplate of faith and love: faith because without faith it is impossible to please God, and love because Jesus said that if we believe in Him we will walk in love. Righteousness, therefore, has everything to do with having faith in Jesus and walking in love.
In Job we see a picture of what righteousness looks like. Job 29:12-17 says, “Because I delivered the poor who cried out, The fatherless and the one who had no helper. The blessing of a perishing man came upon me, And I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy. I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; My justice was like a robe and a turban. I was eyes to the blind, And I was feet to the lame. I was a father to the poor, And I searched out the case that I did not know. I broke the fangs of the wicked, And plucked the victim from his teeth.” First John 3:16-17 also says, “By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?”
God in all of His glory, seated high upon His majestic throne, perceived our dire need as we wallowed destitute and condemned in sin’s muck and mire. But… God so loved the world that He GAVE His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not parish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). And that same selfless attitude of Christ is to be in us (Philippians 2), for that is righteousness in action.
A vital part of our arsenal is the Breastplate of Righteousness. With righteousness our hearts, which are the well-spring of life, are guarded above all else. This righteousness is from God alone for only God is righteous, and He because of what Jesus did on the cross and in His resurrection has made us righteous and righteousness. Christ our great High Priest has made us a holy priesthood (I Peter 2:5) and as such we are to be “clothed in righteousness” (Psalm 132:9). Not only are we to be clothed in righteousness, but we are the righteousness of God in Christ. Thus, we no longer are to walk in fear, but in faith. We are no longer to walk in selfish impatience but in love. This righteousness that God has made us through Christ and that is exemplified through faith and love in action is what guards our hearts from the enemy’s continual attacks. Let us then put on the breastplate of righteousness. And having suited up in the full armor of God’s light, let us stand unwaveringly and unashamedly in this ever darkening, depraved, deceived world that is quickly passing away. Jesus is coming soon! Let us “gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ…” (I Peter 1:13), as we look for our “blessed hope” (Titus 2:13).

Ephesians 6:17, “And take the helmet of salvation…”
What does this mean? What does it mean to take on the helmet of salvation? We often hear the phrase, quote it word for word, hear brief sermons on it, and some Christians every day imagine themselves literally putting on a helmet. But, what does it really mean to put on the helmet of salvation?
This brief statement seems to almost be an after thought on the part of Paul. He’s already listed quite important items of armor already, and has stated that the shield is most important. Then he says, “and”. Like it was an “oh and what is it I’m forgetting, hmmmm…. Let me think…. Oh, yes, “and take the helmet of salvation.” However, each piece is extremely important….and is a matter of life and death. In the life of the Roman soldier it was literally life and death. For the Christian it is a matter of the life and death of the soul.
In Greek the word for helmet means, “about the head” or “around the head.” For the Roman soldier the helmet was made of bronze and was exceedingly heavy. Because of its great weight, sponge was placed inside it so that it would be more comfortable on a soldier’s head. It fit very snuggly, and wrapped around to even cover the cheeks and jaw of the soldier. It was so strong and durable that not any form of weapon could penetrate it. When in battle it specifically protected the soldier against those wielding barbaric battle axes that could and would chop people’s heads off.
Not only was the Roman soldier’s helmet protective, it could be very ornate, depicting different engraved scenes, and could even be forged to look like an animal such as an elephant. Then, to top it all off, it sported a showy, colorful plume of feathers or horse’s hair. Therefore, not only was it a heavy, impenetrable source of protection, it was also quite a noticeable, unmissable showpiece!
Such is our salvation. Impenetrable and ornate. Rick Renner states, “Why would the Holy Spirit compare a piece of weaponry like this to salvation? Becauseyour salvation is the most gorgeous, most intricate, most elaborate, most ornate gift God ever gave to you! Paul calls this marvelous gift “the helmet of salvation.” He likened salvation to these flamboyant helmets that were worn on the head where everyone would notice. By using this example, Paul is telling us something very important. When a person is confident of his salvation — and when he walks confidently in the powerful reality of all that salvation means for him — he is a noticeable individual!” (http://www.renner.org/salvation/the-helmet-of-salvation/).
But what does it mean to “take the helmet of salvation”? Does that mean we need to be saved every day? What are we to do with this fantastic helmet?
To begin with, we’re commanded to “take” it. The word for “take” in this particular instance in Greek means, “To accept an offer readily, to take to oneself what is presented,” to approve of it, embrace it. We are to eagerly take hold of the helmet of salvation and place it securely on our head, and prepare for hand-to-hand combat with the battle ax wielding enemy who wants to chop our heads off!
Furthermore, this is not just any helmet. This is the helmet of “salvation.” In the Greek the word is actually an adjective. So, a better way to put it would be, “And take on the saving/delivering helmet.”
So, number one, we accept eagerly the offer of Christ’s sacrificial salvation. And this salvation guarantees us daily power over sin and future power over eternal punishment and death. But, as for being “re-saved” spiritually every day, that is not what this is talking about here. As soon as one believes in Jesus, who He is and what He did in His death and resurrection, and tell others about this, we are saved and guaranteed eternal life (Romans 10).
However, there is a battle still in the arena of our souls, for we are in the process of being transformed through the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2) through the washing of the Word (Ephesians 5); from glory to glory He is changing our minds! (2 Corinthians 3). Indeed, though we are saved, we are still in the conflict. But, instead of us being slaves we are now the masters and more than conquerors through Christ (Romans 8:37), who is our Head, our Lord, our Salvation…indeed, Jesus is our helmet of Salvation. Without Him there is no salvation.
However, the devil wants to be your head. So, he sends thoughts to us, even dreams at night. This is a part of the tactic of his warfare. These thoughts can sometimes seem good, reasonable, logical, even compassionate, when in reality they do not align with Scripture (for example: a relative cohabiting with someone outside of marriage while claiming to be Christian and we want to be accepting so we explain it away; we lied, but we reason that it’s just a white lie; we know that what we said is true about our roommate and therefore it could not be gossip; this movie isn’t so bad even if it is filled with worldly concepts after all the actress is a Christian in real life; I’m overwhelmed and God isn’t speaking to me right now so I’ll figure something out on my own!; I’m not worrying, I just care!).
And then, there are the thoughts that we know drag us down and yet we get sucked in every time. The Bible calls these “anxious” thoughts (Philippians 4:6-7), but in Greek it means more than merely being anxious. It means “to be troubled, to care to the point of bringing disruption to the personality and mind”. It comes from a root word meaning “to part, to divide, separate into parts, or disunite.” Thus, these thoughts not only change our moods and affect our words and actions, but they also cause our minds to be disrupted by the enemy.
First Corinthians 2 says, we have the “mind of Christ.” Thus, Jesus is our Head, not Satan. (Ephesians 4: 15-16, 5:23, Colossians 1:18, and 2:19 state this). Having been “baptized into Christ” we have “put on Christ” (Galatians 3:27), and are new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17). Because we are saved through Him, and He is now our head, we are to bring “into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5 – emphasis added is mine). In other words, we are to make every thought given us by the enemy a prisoner of war!
Are you depressed? Are you worried? Are you fearful? Are you dismissing habitual sins in Christians and reasoning that that is a loving thing to do? Are you dismissing your own sins by thinking they’re not that bad? Are you possibly even questioning whether or not you’re really saved? What are we thinking about? Are we focusing more on Satan’s word than God’s?
As Christians we have been given a gift that the world does not have and that the world cannot take away. Satan can manipulate the minds of the masses, for they’ve no armor to protect themselves from a battle of which they are completely ignorant. But Christians have been given a colorful, show-stopping, weighty, ornate helmet that the enemy cannot penetrate no matter how hard he tries!!! But, it’s no good unless we first of all realize that we are in a very real war. We’re not just thinking simple thoughts or dreaming simple dreams. Those thoughts and dreams can be weapons used against us to destroy us from the inside out. They can be the battle ax to take off our heads. And secondly, we must realize that our helmet is no good if we do not “receive it eagerly” it and put it on. After all, what good it is if we’re not wearing it? It’s not meant to sit and look pretty on the shelf like a trophy or remain all shiny and new in a box in the closet. It’s meant to be worn. We are not the slave of our thoughts. Through Christ and in His name, we are the master of our thoughts. God wants to guard our every thought with His peace, but He can’t do so until we are at rest in Christ who is our Head (Philippians 4:6-7).
So, let’s take on that helmet of salvation. Let’s every day acknowledge Christ’s Lordship and Headship in our minds. Let’s no longer allow our thoughts to trouble us to the point of altering our mood or our actions or our decisions, but rather, let’s take every thought a prisoner of war to the obedience of Christ who is our Salvation and our Head!
