A Christian teacher in Ireland has been jailed “for violating a court order forbidding him from going to the school where he works, after he was put on administrative leave during disciplinary proceedings over his refusal to use a student’s new name and gender-neutral pronouns…” Mr. Enoch Burke stated that calling the student by a gender neutral pronoun went against his Christian beliefs. In other words, Mr. Burke is being persecuted for being a true Christian who stood for the truth and would not, in effect call evil good.
Addressing this topic of good and evil, Isaiah states succinctly God’s words on this matter, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! … 24Therefore, as a tongue of fire consumes the straw, and as dry grass shrivels in the flame, so their roots will decay and their blossoms will blow away like dust; for they have rejected the instruction of the LORD of Hosts and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.” For indeed, “the LORD of Hosts will be exalted by His justice, and the holy God will show Himself holy in righteousness” (Isaiah 5:16).
I encourage each of us as Christians that when we see the school buses out and about driving by our homes or stopping in front of us, or as we send our kids or grandkids to school, let us remember to pray for the Christian teachers and Christian coaches and Christian students and Christian parents, really for all Christians, especially now. The days are getting darker by the nanosecond — but the darker the night, the nearer the dawn.
And here are some ways in which we can pray:
Ephesians 5
“14Do all things without complaining and disputing, 15that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16holding fast the word of life…” Pray that they “Walk as children of light 9(for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them… walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”
Ephesians 6
Along with the full armor of God passage, may we especially, pray “19… that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20…that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”
Colossians 4
Pray also “…3that God would open…a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ… 4that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.5Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. 6Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.”
Pray, Pray, Pray
Indeed, we all must “Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving…” (Colossians 4:2), “…18… always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints…” (Ephesians 6), pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17), and may we also ourselves live out all the passages above with all diligence and perseverance and courage, for the time is short and Christ’s return is nearer today than yesterday. “11And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. 12The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.” (Romans 13). Amen. Indeed, the night is far spent, and the day is very close at hand. Though the darkness is deep, the faint dawning of the light of day is about to blush the sky with glorious light!
Be not afraid, dear Christian! Jesus is coming soon! Let’s be ready!

Yes, the song below is old, but its words are more relevant today than it was even when they sang it way back when. Blessings as you listen with your ears and heart!
